Thedynamicandstaticsystemscanbedefinedasfollows:
Dynamic:Asysteminwhichtheoperatingpressurefluctuates,in
accordancewithload,uptoamaximumpressurelimitedbythe
reliefvalve.Inaddition,thesystemmayalsoexperienceshocks,
vibrationandtemperatureexcursions.Example:Abackhoe.
Static:Asystem,oncepressurized,isessentiallyfreeofpres-
surefluctuations,shock,vibrationandtemperatureexcursions,
withsuchpressurizationsnotexceeding30,000inthelifeofthe
system.Example:Ahydraulicjack.
Thedynamicpressureratingsarebasedonaminimumdesign
factorof4.Inotherwords,thefittingiscapableofholdinga
pressureequalto4timestheratedpressurebeforeleakage
orfailure.Forstaticapplications,thedesignfactorcanbe3.
Hence,thestaticratingcanbedeterminedbymultiplyingthe
dynamicratingby1.33.
Staticpressurerating=1.33xDynamicpressurerating
Example:Staticpressureratingforafittingratedat6000psi=
1.33x6000=8000psi
